Our initial planning idea was to have our character running towards danger, as a classic horror type. Based on having one main killer, with his victims; due to slasher being our original horror sub genre. Because we wanted to make it different to the official movie, we decided to change the killer to a female role. We also planned to base in on a secure horror, located in a school; rather than it being a 'nightmare', it will be occurring in real life. Meaning those in the school would believe they are safe, but the audience will predict something will go wrong. This would also happen through the night to give a gloomy effect. However, it is expected for a horror event to occur at night. We planned to film in the public area but in order to include numerous people, they would all have to be aware of the filming.
As a group we then decided to change it to a completely different plot. This consisted of it being based in either a prison or asylum. We found it would be easier to portray the characters and location in a more sinister manor. Basing the horror in a school is expected for a horror, however locating it in a prison could potentially make the plot unknown. Due to horror occurring usually at night, ours occurred throughout the day. This gives a real-life affect as the audience would think it is reality and find it more believable.

Although Wes Craven's 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' was our original inspiration, we planned to adapt it in our own way. This is due to it being also filmed in secure settings whereby the killer strikes. We initially decided to create our own version of this secure horror.
However, we then changed our it to film in the prison above: HMP Gloucester. We avoided presenting it as a prison, and used shots which suggest the asylum. This then became our new planning idea.
