For our casting of the female role, we chose to cast Lucy Harvey. This is because she conforms the image of an innocent blonde, usually whose characteristics are often seen within horrors. In horrors, the blonde female is usually the vulnerable one who potentially dies. The blonde female is often seen as on a lower level of intelligence. However, in our opening title sequence that is not the case. Our casting contradicts this idea due to her past experience in an asylum; meaning she must have done something immoral to get herself in such a situation, leaving her not as innocent. Lucy's character was able to escape which represents her having a higher intelligence level than most stereotypical blondes in horror. This idea also contradicts the reasons for the character originating in an asylum because stereotypically, those in asylums have issues relating to a lack in mental, social and physical skills. At the end of our OTS, we see an officer closing a gate followed by another lock, which re-occur throughout. This again shows her intelligence as we know she will not get caught, due to the officers not searching for her.
The image below of the female character from 'scary movie 5', is an example of someone contrasting with our female role which is what we were looking for. Instead, this blonde conforms the stereotypical blonde female seen in most horror examples.
