EDIBLE AND NON-EDIBLE RECIPES
The video above is how we made fake blood with a certain receipe. The first recipe which was presented to us consisted of a cheap washing up liquid, the colour of it should be green because the green mixes well with the red food colouring. The washing up liquid is better if its cheap because it will make the texture of the fake blood realistic. This recipe is good for the use of cuts and wounds on the body and even on clothes as blood stains because it isnt a edible mixture because of the washing up liquid. We used these ingredients for non edible blood because it looks realistic for big wounds and slashes. When you are doing this recipe you need to make sure that you dont mix the washing up liquid to much because bubbles will start to form which wont make the blood look as realistic as it could.
The next blood recipe consists of: Cornflour, Cocoa powder, Water, Icing sugar with red and green food colouring. The Cornflour, Icing sugar and Cocoa powder are useful because when the water is added to the mixture it starts to form a paste that isn't to watery but isn't too thick. This is a good texture to have when making fake blood. The red and green food colouring helps the mixtures colour turn into a deep red colour which makes it look realistic. You need to include the green food colouring to both blood recipes because it tones down the bright red colour to create a more deep red colour. When it comes to adding the water to the cocoa powder and corn flour, make sure you add a little bit of water at a time so you are able to know when the consistency of the paste is just right.
At the end of the video, three individuals tested out their edible blood mixtures to see which blood recipe was more realistic in a filming situation. When you are making the blood, the only way you know that the texture and colour of the recipe is right is if it doesn't have to much of a runny texture.
